The Beginning Part I
His parents, Mr. John Wayne Gacy sr. and Marion Elaine Robinson Gacy celebrated St. Patrick s Day, also they welcomed their first son into the world at Edgewater Hospital in 1942. John Wayne Gacy, Jr. was the second of three children. His older sister Joanne was born two years before him and two years and two years later came Karen who is the youngest sister. All of the children were raised to be Catholic and all three attended Catholic schools where they lived on the northern side of Chicago. The area that John Wayne Gacy grew up in was middle class and there were usually young boys who took part-time jobs after school. Gacy himself had a sequence of jobs, one was that he was a Boy Scout who joined a lot of activities, he also had newspaper courses and worked in a grocery store as a bagboy.
When Gacy was only eleven years old he was outside playing on the swigs when he was hit in the head by a swing. This caused a blood clot in his brain, nevertheless the clot wasn t discovered until he turned sixteen. From 11 to 16 he suffered a chain of blackouts which was caused by the clot, so far the blackouts had stopped when had started taking medication and slowly blockage in the brain dissolved. After the age of seventeen, John Wayne Gacy was identified with a vague heart illness. he was hospitalized on quite a few incidents for his problem during his life, but nobody knew the exact cause for it. After he attended four different high schools in his 12th grade year and never graduating we dropped out and left his house to go and work in Las Vegas, Nevada. In Vegas he worked part-time as janitor and some other strange jobs. With minimal success in Las Vegas he was upset that he couldn t get a descent job which didn t include having a high school graduate s diploma, he decided to move back home. It had taken him 3 months to save up enough money in order to get back home. After Gacy got back he registered himself into a business collage. When he graduated from the collage he had developed a certain talent, he was a person who could talk his way out of anything, in which he became a salesperson, ultimately he ended up in Springfield, Illinois working as manager of men s clothing.
John Wayne Gacy s victims were all in the age group 17 – 19. Also according to the book Killer Clown: The John Wayne Gacy Murders by Sullivan and Maiken, Gacy said that, “his first killing took place in January, 1972, and the second in January, 1974, about a year and a half after his marriage. Overall he had kidnapped over 30 victims and raped them before killing them. Gacy was found guilty in the deaths of thirty-three young men and as Sullivan said, he had the “singular notoriety of having been convicted of more murders than anyone else in American history.” Gacy received the death penalty and was sent to Menard Correctional Center where, after years of appeals, he eventually was killed by lethal injection.
