The Sufferings of Jews and Blacks
The Jewish race has gone trough slavery and persecution over and over throughout the history of mankind. Once in a while, some insane person will come along, and feel the need to get rid of all God’s chosen people. Even in the Old Testament, Pharaoh decided that there were too many Jews in Egypt, so to solve this problem, he enslaved to them. In order to control the population, he ordered all the male Jewish babies that were born, to be thrown into the Nile River. In the days of Queen Esther, Jews were unfairly treated when Haman talked King Xeres into passing a law to kill all the Jews. When Jesus was born, King Herod, after hearing the prophecies that the king of the Jews was going to be born, put out a decree that all males two and under be put to death. After Germany defeated the Polish army and started their conquest to take over the world, a man named Adolf Hitler decided to try to destroy the Jews. The movie “Schindler’s List”, expresses how Jews were gathered, and forced to work in labor camps, as well as murdered in cold blood out in the open without shame. I thought about the struggle of African Americans and how our ancestors were taken from their homes in Africa, and forced to work on plantations and cotton fields. Most were beaten and mistreated and even executed if they refused.
Jews, as well as blacks, were forced to leave their homes, families, and friends, only to be enslaved to work for someone who thought they were better than them. Jewish people from all over the country had to leave their homes and move to major cities to be registered and labeled like livestock. Similar to this, blacks were also taken from their homelands just
Many blacks that survived the trip over to America were sold to the highest bidder. Most bidders had farms and plantations where the black slaves were put to work right away. As in “Shindler’s List”, Jews were treated identically. They worked on the concentration, and labor camps. They were also beaten, whipped, and persecuted if they refused work just like the black slaves were. In most cases, Jews were executed since they were not worth as much as the black slaves were. It seems that the Jews and black slave were both equally tortured just because they were different from Caucasians. Jews and Blacks were executed every day because of the color of their skin, their beliefs, how they dressed, how they talked, and just because they didn’t fit into what was considered the supreme race at that point of time. Public executing of Jews were similar to the public hanging of black slaves.
Jews and black slaves both have a long history of suffering, yet we are still around, and stronger than before. So many times in Jewish history, have the Jews been driven away, and almost all killed, but like black people, they too keep pressing on. Our people have come along way, but we still have a long way to go. If we just stick together, and educate each other, we can prove to the world what we, ourselves have known for centuries, and that is we are not animals, we are human beings. We can be equal, if not better than any man on this earth, no matter the race.
