Military Experiences Essay, Research Paper
Military Advantages
I was sitting there signing what I thought was a never ending stack of papers, in my
recruiters office. I remember my recruiter telling me about the engineers. I was sitting there with
my brother, as we were both in for something that we would never ever forget. There are many
reasons why the military is my most valued possession. The military has allot of positive
benefits, such as a skill, college, and last but not least; travel.
First of all, a major benefit is learning a life time skill. I will learn the basic of weapons
of all types. I will qualify a M16-A2 rifle, and I will learn to fire the AT4 which is a rocket
launcher. Learning my MOS is what I will do after training, I will know the skills of a certain
job, in which I will perform either part time or full time. I will be able to do what many civilians
will never be able to do. I will drive and train on hundred thousand dollar vehicles, such as a 113
(troop tank), humvee, and five ton trucks.
Second major advantage in the military, is college benefits. I may go to any public state
or university college, and pay no money for tuition. The military allows me to have one hundred
percent free coll
amount to two hundred and fifty dollars. That you can either put towards college, or what ever
the money is needed for at the time being. Correspondence courses are also available. I could
take some courses at home and receive college credit that is good towards my degree. These
courses are free for military personal.
Last of all, I will receive nice travel benefits. I could travel anywhere in the world,
without paying any money at all. This is called ?Space A? traveling, I may hop on any military
plane traveling to the same destination. When I get to that destination, I will be able to stay on a
military base for really low money; depending on rank and availability. If there is no room on
base, then I might want to seek a hotel/motel that has military discounts. There are many places
that will give discounts to the military.
In conclusion, joining the military, and going through training pays off in the long run. I
receive so much more than what is mention. Having a life time skill that may be used in the
civilian world, having those college benefits to help pay for college, and being able to travel the
world and for very little money couldn?t hurt.
