Mr. Jones owned the Manor Farm. One night, all the animals gathered in the big barn to listen to Old Major, the oldest pig on the farm. He had had a strange dream and wanted to share with all the animals. His dream was about an old song that has been forgotten long ago. The song was entitled “Beasts of England.” The song told that one day all the animals would stand up and rebel against the Man. Man was their main enemy whom took away all their food and produces, and leave back only a small portion of it. Man should be killed so that animals would live in peace and prosperity. All the animals including the three dogs Bluebell, Jessie, and Pincher with the pigs, hens, birds, horses Boxer and Clover, Muriel, the white goat and Benjamin, the donkey. all joined in the song and made such loud noise that Mr. Jones woke up and shot six times. Immediately, all the animals departed and went back to their own places. After the important meeting, three days later Old Major died. All the animals mourned for his death. They planned to attack Man someday. Then one day came, when Mr. Jones got drunk and forgot to feed the animals, the animals were so hungry that they broke up the barn and jumped in the store-shed to eat the food. Jones and his men were so infuriated that they attacked the animals with whips and lashes. The hungry animals attacked back with horns, teeth, legs. The animals fought back so hard that Jones and his men soon had to run away. After the success, the animals decided to change Manor Farm to Animal Farm. The pigs then set up seven commandments for Animal Farm:1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.3. No animal shall wear clothes.4. No animal shall sleep in a bed.5. No animal shall drink alcohol.6. No animal shall kill any other animal.7. All animals are equal. From now onwards, the pigs would control the whole farm for they were smarter than all other animals and know how to read and write. The two main pigs were Snowball and Napoleon. They two were by for the most active in the debates. But it was noticed that these two were never in agreement: whatever suggestion either of them made, the other could be counted on oppose it. Snowball wanted to institute classes for the animals to learn to read and write, but Napoleon wanted to educate the young rather the grown-up. Therefore, he took nine puppies of Jessie and Bluebell to educate them in his own way in a high place that could not be seen. Time passed by, the animals lived in peace and prosperity without man. Unfortunately, something unfair was still h
appening. The pigs got to eat apples and drink milk while others just ate normal food. Also, other animals had to work hard outside in the field despite the cold winter while the pigs stayed inside and said they had to use their brain to prevent the Jones’s return. In the mean time, outside Mr. Jones went to tell his friends about the animals’ rebellion. None of them believed it though. But one day, he and many other men went to Animal Farm to kill the animals. This time, they brought guns along with them. At the farm, Snowball organized each animal in their positions and get ready to fight. Once again, with the great help of Boxer, Clover and the pigs including Snowball except Napoleon, they had driven Man out of the farm. The animals then called this victorious day the “Battle of the Cowshed” and celebrated it on each October 12th of each year. After the battle , Snowball decided to build a windmill for the benefit of others. But Napoleon rejected and ordered his nine big dogs to scare Snowball out of the farm. From now on, Snowball was no longer heard. After the event, Napoleon changed rapidly from bad to worse. He continued Snowball’s plan of building the windmill even though he disagreed at the beginning. He forced the animals to work days and nights. But he himself and the pigs doesn’t even touch a brick except telling the animals what to do. The big nine dogs guarded the animals so watchfully that no animals lingered at their job. After many hard-working days, the windmill was finishe. Unfortunately, one night, the Man broke them down and the new windmill was lain in ruin. But Squealer, Napoleon’s assistant said that Snowball did all this and once more forced the animals to rebuild a harder one. Some animals such as hens, geese, ect. Were blamed for involving in this case and were killed in front of every animal. Boxer, a hard-working horse for building the windmill was finally exhausted and also got killed by Napoleon. The pigs broke many commandments from the seven commandments and one of them was killing other animals. Each day, they became more like human. Napoleon traded with Man outside and one day he invited them to the farm to have dinner with the pigs. More animals recognized the wrongness of Napoleon but they can’t do anything for the nine big, mean dogs always accompany him.I like this story very much because it was talking about the Communism of Russia. But I don’t like the ending of it very much. In my mind, I still yearn for the freedom of many countries that are still under the control of Communism such as Vietnam. So that the people could live in peace and prosperity without the oppression of the communists.
