The Judges Wife Essay, Research Paper
Throughout the story ?The Judge?s Wife?, Isabel Allende presents Dona Casilda presented as a powerless woman although later she emerges as the most powerful character in the story.
Everything all the way until the end of Allende?s story suggests that Dona Casilda, the wife of the local judge, is merely a figurehead and is very weak. The title alone
makes her seem very insignificant. It as though she is not even worthy of her own title and must be described as the wife of someone in order to be recognized. She is described as very quiet and ?frail looking?. The story is very ironic because the Dona Casilda later emerges above Nicholas Vidal and the Judge, who are thought to be the most powerful characters in the, as the strongest character.
