Independence Day! A day of celebration for all ages and races. Independence Day was the day in which the nation of Stars and Stripes became free and independent from the British. A day when the 13 colonies united to become one. It’s now a day when Americans commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence by kicking back and having a cold one. The Fourth of July is celebrated with exploding bombs of sparkling glitter in the twilight as parties full of family and friends show their American pride with banners of red, white, and blue. It is a time when uniformed men an
d women reflect those lost in our previous battles for independence as they eat ribs and hamburgers. When giggling tots, plug their ears, awaiting the loud pop of Blackcats, and race each ohter to cathc candy from a passing float that is blaring nationalistic tunes. Independence Day is the day when all towns, cities, and communities of America come together to celebrate a day that invoked a sense of pride and determination in those original settlers. This is the same sense of pride and determination continues to grow with each new generation and with it, a reminder of why we continually fight for our country and our freedom.
