Creation vs. Evolution
While the theory of evolution is very commonly accepted amongst most scholars and intellectuals, when the scientific facts used to ’support’ it are closely examined, it becomes apparent that it is merely that: a theory. Inaccurate information, misguided philosophers, and in some cases, just plain ignorance, have all contributed to this ’scientific religion’ that does nothing but lead people away from the true nature of our existence, the Genesis creation. The creation ’story’ is much more than just a story, it is a scientifically provable fact, and one that should be treated as more than just a parable or story, as the Word of God is pure and the absolute truth.
One of the first major pillars of the evolution theory that falls away under close scrutiny is the concept of an ‘old earth.’ Because the evolutionary process needs millions and millions of years in order to take place, evolutionists declare that the earth must have existed for 4 to 5 billion years. However, with all things considered, this theory is simply impossible. Three astronomic facts disprove it almost immediately: the recession rate of the moon, the dissipation of the earth’s magnetic field, and earth’s rotation rate.
The moon is very slowly drifting away from the earth. Currently, it is at a distance of approximately 239,000 miles away from the planet’s surface and receding at a miniscule, but steady rate. However, “if one multiplies this recession speed by the presumed evolutionary age, the moon would be much farther away from the earth than it is, even if it had started from the earth. It could not have been receding for anything like the age demanded by the doctrine of evolution.” (Barnes) Furthermore, even if the moon had started much closer to the earth, not only would the tides it created have drowned everything on the planet twice daily, but the effect it would have had upon the earth’s rotation rate at such a close distance would have cause the earth to be a different shape, slightly elliptical, rather than spherical, as it is now. Second, the earth has a magnetic field surrounding it, which is weakening at a rate of 5% of its present total every hundred years. At the present time, the earth’s magnetic field is only one third as strong as it was when Jesus walked the earth. With the deterioration of that field being so relatively rapid, if the earth were actually 4 billion years old, such a field would no longer exist, and so much harmful radiation would have hit the surface that life as we know it could not exist. Finally, the rotation of the earth is slowing down at a rate of one thousandth of a second per day. While that doesn’t seem like much, only one second per millennia, in one billion years, it adds up to one million seconds, or 227 hours. At that rate of rotation, the centrifugal force on the earth would have torn it apart. (Hovind)
Another scientific method that evolutionists use to back up their theory is the use of carbon dating to determine the age of ancient fossils. Using this method, scientists place an age of millions of years on dinosaur bones and the like. However, this method, while very accurate, to a point, would have been thrown off completely be the worldwide flood that took place in the book of Genesis. The flood would have uprooted and buried pre-flood forests, cutting off a huge amount of Carbon 12 from cycling between living things and the atmosphere, and causing the ratio of Carbon 14, which is formed in the upper atmosphere, to slowly increase. If such an increase in Carbon 14 went unaccounted for, radiocarbon ages of things living then would appear to us to be much older than they actually are. (Brown)
The evolutionists idea of biological evolution are just as scientifically flawed as their theories of an ‘old earth.’ Initiated by Charles Darwin in 1853, the idea that all life evolved from the same microorganisms is physically impossible, as well as contradictory to the Word of God. While evolutionists think all creatures came from the same biological starting point, 1 Corinthians 15:39 clearly states that “All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.” However, the theory Darwin put forth has taken off like a runaway train in the hands of people all too eager to believe that thee might be an explanation to life other that a superior being that created us. Even Darwin himself said that “Not one change of species into another is on record. We cannot prove that a single species has ever changed.”
Not only does the Darwinian hypothesis contradict God’s Word, but it violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which states that, basically, all systems in nature, if left to their own devices, will ultimately become less and less ordered. This phenomenon, also known as entropy (in addition to being in accordance with the Bible – “They shall perish, but thou (God) shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment” – Psalms 102:26), proves that evolution is fundamentally impossible. “Random changes in anything simply do not produce higher levels of organization and complexity. Rather, all
complex machines and devices with which we are familiar are the result of intelligent design and manufacture. Random changes can only destroy them.” (Menton) All systems in nature are becoming less orderly with the passage of time because it takes very little energy to do so. In order for the process to go “uphill,” or become more complex, it would require a concentrated energy to cause that change.
Even if one were to disregard that information, the process of evolution is still full of holes that are easily exposed. The human body is far too complex to have evolved from a single celled organism. Case in point: the DNA strand. Could a cell by chance come into being that has the DNA instructions to fill one thousand 600-page books? Research has shown that the requirements for life are so complex that chance and even billions of years could not have produced them. The simplest form of life consists of 600 different protein molecules. The mathematical probability that just one of those molecules could form by the chance arrangement of the proper amino acids is far less than 1 in 10^527 (10 to the 527th power). The magnitude of the number 10^527 can begin to be appreciated by realizing that the entire universe has `only` about 10^80 atoms in it. And that’s just for a simple one celled organism. Imagine the probability of the vast amounts of information in a DNA strand coming together randomly over a period of time.
The human body (or the body of any other creature) cannot live without most internal organs, such as the heart, the lungs, the liver, etc. Remove any of these organs, and the person dies. This implies that the entire body was created at one point in time. Furthermore, evolutionists theorize that sexual reproduction came about through evolution. In order for this to happen, two humans had to evolve at the same evolution. time and place, having complementary reproductive systems. If one system wasn’t complete or compatible, the species would become extinct.

Through the study of scientific evidence, it can be determined that creationism is the only possible and provably explanation for the existence of the world and life on it. First, the creationist theory of a ‘young earth’ is congruent with, not only all of the scientific phenomena mentioned earlier, but it is in complete compatibility with the age of the earth calculated through the genealogies in the Bible.
By carefully studying the Bible, and the genealogies contained in it, religious scholars have been able to determine that the earth is approximately 6,000 years old. The astronomical facts I listed before all completely support this theory. According to the decreasing rate of the earth’s revolution, the loss of one second per millennia, the ‘old earth’ that is so essential to the evolution theory is impossible, however, according to the biblical truth, we would have only lost 6 seconds worth of revolution, which would be barely noticeable. The ‘young earth’ reality is also maintained by the moon’s rate of recession and the depletion of our magnetic shield. Under the statutes of the ‘old earth,’ the earth itself would not exist as we know it, but the over the 6,000 years of true existence, these phenomena line up perfectly.
Some evolutionists try to twist the creation story in order to fit their way of thinking. While admitting that God created the world in the fashion and order that he did, they say that each ‘day’ of creation, as is written in Genesis 1, is not really a day, but a long period of time, perhaps many years, a hypothesis known as the “gap theory.” This theory, proposed by Thomas Chalmers in 1814, would allow the many years needed for an “evolution” to take place. However, the Word of God, as always, proves this theory wrong. Every day of creation was a normal, 24 hour period, just as a day is recorded now, according to Genesis 1:5, 1:8, 1:13, 1:19, 1:23, and 1:31, which states, “And the evening and the morning were the _____ day.” (substituting the number of each day in each verse.” There is not any biblical reference to any long period of time on earth before, during, or after the creation week. The one verse that probably best clarifies this whole question is Exodus 20:11. “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them?”
Another means by which the evolutionist tries to attack the truth of creation with are the dinosaurs. They claim that these “prehistoric” beasts lived millions of years ago, and died long before humans came to exist. Basing these claims on the C-14 dating system, (which I have already demonstrated is flawed when dating something back to the pre flood days), they think they have a firm foothold for their theory. However, the books of Genesis and Job tell a different story. In Genesis 1:25, God “made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind” on the sixth day, and verse 6:4 specifies that huge beasts like the dinosaurs were amongst those, stating “There were giants in the earth in those days.” The book of Job is more specific on the matter. In Job 40, God shows Job a huge beast that He made, a behemoth that eats grass like an ox (40:15), very strong (40:16-18), with a tail like a tree (40:17), who dwelled in swamps (40:21-23). This beast that God describes bears all the characteristics of the Apatosaurus or Diplodocus, but the verse that proves my point is 40:15, where God states, “Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee;” God made humans and animals both on the sixth day of creation, and this verse conclusively shows that the dinosaurs were also among those beasts.
Finally, the subject of the actual creation of man has been constantly debated by scholars. Scientists have scoffed at the possibility of Genesis having any scientific credibility whatsoever, especially the formation of humanity out of clay in Genesis 2:7 (”And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.”). In November of 1982, Reader’s Digest had an article titled How Life on Earth Began. It stated that according to scientists at NASA’s Ames Research Center the ingredients needed to form a human being can be found in clay, saying, “The Biblical scenario for the creation of life turns out to be not far off the mark..” RNA was an original component of clay, giving it all the elements needed for God to create us from it (Cairns-Smith).Despite attempts to justify our existence by our own means, the more we learn, and the more we find God’s Word to be scientifically correct.
The evolution theory, a conglomeration of several interesting hypotheses, is not merely a theory, but it is fast becoming its own atheistic religion. It takes a considerable amount of faith to believe in this theory as well, seeing as all the scientific evidence we have points against it. Our self righteousness and inability to believe the truth has formed this carefully crafted lie, but the won’t hold water with the Lord, for “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” (Psalms 14:1) The truth is, God’s Word is the final authority on the matter, and His Word is fact, not just a story. “Keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called” – 1Timothy 6:20
