Of Mice And Men: A Comparison Of The 2 Movies And The Book Essay, Research Paper
In Class we watched two movies based on a book we read called Of Mice and Men. Both of the movies were very similar to the book. In I was able to hear exact lines from the book in the two movies.
In the book and in the second movie Curley’s wife was not given a name. She was not given a name to symbolize that she was nothing more than a possession of Curley. Curley’s wife was given a name in the first movie. Her name was May. I think that the first movie we watched best depicted her because of the way she dressed.
Lennie was not much different between the book and the two movies. However I think that Lennie’s disability was best depicted in the second movie. I think this because in the second movie they used a mentally challenged actor for Lennie’s character. I think Lennie’s size was best depicted in the first movie.
I liked Curley best in the first movie. In that movie the actor who played him really looked the part. He looked like the sniveling little weasel that he really is. The clothes fit the part and the mustache added a little bit of villainy to the character. The second movie also did a very good job of depicting him. I do not think the book did a good job on describing Curley.
I think the second movie did the best rendering of Crooks. In the second movie it was very obvious that he had a crooked back. The book and the two movies all did a good job of showing Crooks’s loneliness.
The incident in Weed was portrayed differently in the book and the two movies. In the book the incident in weed was only talked about. The first movie started out with Lennie and George running away from the group who were trying to catch them. The second movie started out with the girl in the red dress running away from Lennie.
The incident I Crook’s room was pretty
The book and the two movies all portrayed the killing of the puppy and Curley’s wife in a similar fashion. Lennie accidentally killed the puppy while playing with it and tries to bury it. Curley’s wife went in and coaxes Lennie into a conversation about there dreams. Curley’s wife lets Lennie touch her soft hair which leads to her death.
The scene in the brush is different in the book than in the two movies. In the book Lennie has hallucinations. The hallucinations yell at him and tell him he’s done a bad thing. The book and two movies are pretty much the same after this. Lennie just waits there for George.
The book and two movies all come to a sad ending. George finds Lennie and starts telling him about there dream. While he tells Lennie about the rabbits George shoots Lennie in the back of the head. I did not like the second movies version of this scene it seemed incredibly cold hearted.
I really liked the first movie. It did a good job of telling the story. It had many good parts in it. It only had one or two parts that I thought could have been better
I think the second movie was really good as well. The only part that I thought could have been better was the very end when George shot Lennie. It did not have enough emotion in it.
I thought the book was excellent. It was definitely one of the best books I have ever read in my life. The book had a very good plot and it made me wish the story would never end.
