John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States. He was the youngest man ever elected to be president, and was also the youngest to die while in office. I feel that a holiday recognizing his life should be issued. I personally think he was the best president to serve our country. There are many reasons why he should be remembered. He started many organizations, stood for civil rights, wanted to rid the world of communism, and was assassinated.
He manned together the Peace Corps, a group of people sent to other countries to help with the poor and starving people. He wanted America to help and assist developing countries which where having major troubles. With this help it would keep the troubled citizens from turning towards communism. He also headed the way for Alliance for Progress a group set up to unite the free countries to help spread the benefits of a democracy government instead of turning to communism.
Civil rights were also one of his goals. He wished America to be the first nation dedicated to the revolution of civil rights. He laid plans to help the poor and show them how to give themselves a better life. He took vigorous action in calling for new civil rights legislation.

Not only was he a great leader but also he was a great man. His life Will be remembered by many especially mine. He had great dreams for this country, but they all ended too soon. He was the first in many categories including that he was the first Catholic ever-elected president. There are many reasons why he should have a holiday. There already is a memorial at the nation s capitol. If every American lived by his words, ask not what your country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country this country would be a better place to live.
